LOCKLETTER

AAUW  Lock Haven Chapter

Lock Haven, PA

Pat Burd, President

Editors:  Nell Carnein & Bobbie Way

Greetings from Pat

Dear AAUW Branch Members:

The holiday season is here!  How do we ever get so much done in a month?  One year, while I was working, I agreed to join a cookie exchange.  It ended with 14 of us participating.  It was wonderful having 14 dozen different holiday cookies, but it was so much work baking the same amount.  Somehow, though, with a job and family, I was inspired to participate.  Some things just seem worth doing.

I’m becoming involved in Mentoring Across Ages, Jesse Reibson’s program.  I will soon be getting a student to mentor.  This certainly seems to be something worth doing.  I think it will be a fulfilling experience.

We had a wonderful time at the Palmer Museum in State College.  We enjoyed the exhibit, “Wos Up Man?”  It was a collection of around 80 works of art by 50 artists who were self-taught.  It’s called “Outsider Art” or “Raw Art” and the mediums were certainly varied—mud, coffee, house paint, and glitter among other things.  We also were able to have a brief meeting preceding our lunch at Marsala Indian Restaurant.  We had a private room to ourselves.  The weather was perfect!

I’m looking forward to Bellefonte Victorian Christmas in December.  Hopefully, the weather will again be perfect.

I wish a wonderful holiday season to all of you and your families.

Sincerely,
   Pat
