A
Letter from Laura
Dear
Members:
It is Spring
at last and we can take a deep breath and rejoice at the renewal of
nature all around us.
We have a
special occasion to celebrate this Spring, our thirty-fifth
anniversary. Through the years so many of our members, those who are
with us now and those long and recently gone, have given so much of
themselves for the causes that AAUW represents.
We appreciate
all that you have done for our association. We appreciate your
membership and support. We appreciate your time and hard work. We
appreciate your organizational ability and creative talents. We are
very glad that you are one of us. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Love and
Peace,
Laura

EF Scholarship
As we prepare the
applications for scholarships for 2004-05, reading the letter of
appreciation from Karen Klemash, a winner of a graduate scholarship
for 2003-04, helps us realize how much our efforts are appreciated:
Dear Lock Haven Branch of the American Association of
University Women:
I would like to thank you for awarding me the AAUW
scholarship for the 2003- 2004 academic school year. I greatly
appreciate the award and am honored to be a recipient of it.
After working as a secretary in an orthopedic clinic
for three years, I made the decision to return to school to further
my education. As a graduate student in the Physician's Assistant
Program at Lock Haven University, I am currently attending my second
year in the program. This is a two-year intensive program: The
first year concentrates on comprehensive medical studies, and the
second year focuses on the clinical aspect and field experience. I
am finishing my second of seven rotations, Internal Medicine.
Emergency Medicine will be my third rotation. I am learning a vast
amount of medical knowledge and look forward to being able to apply
this knowledge to patient care. At this point, I have not made a
decision on what branch of the medical field I will be pursuing as a
Physician Assistant.
I want to thank you again for the scholarship. It
has been a tremendous blessing and greatly appreciated.
Sincerely, Karen Klemash
(This letter was received
in August, 2003. Now, in March, Karen is completing her final
rotation in West Chester, and is interviewing for a position in the
Lock Haven area.)
Branch members:
Please spread the news
that scholarship applications for both undergraduate and graduate
women are available at the main desk at Ross Library. The completed
applications must be received by AAUW by June 15, and award
recipients are notified soon after July 15.

Brobst |
